Openly Gay Mormon Takes LDS Leadership Role In SF | Queer Oakland

Click the picture for the original story!

I don’t know how I feel about this. I kind of feel like an abused wife who is getting a new dress from the abusive husband. Does the Church of Latter Day Saints really believe that taking away our rights can be rectified by putting a queer on the pulpit? Do they really think that having a celibate gay man preaching to the world is going to fix anything?

If the Mormons really wanted to patch things up with our community, they would spend millions of dollars and man hours to get Prop H8 overturned.

Everybody Else’s Girl: Tori Amos Does Oakland : via QueerOakland

Boys For Pele

I know this is an older cover image, but I love this one.

Get ready to have your Oakland rocked. On December 16th, Tori Amos will be stopping by Oakland during her “Night of Hunters” tour. The event will be at Oakland’s Paramount Theatre. There are only two artists that I have seen in concert more than once and Tori Amos is one of them.

Tori is a bundle of beautiful music, piano seduction, siren singing and overtly sexual pheromones. She has a new album coming out later this year, also called Night of Hunters.

Tickets have already gone on sale, so if you want to go, you better buy your tickets yesterday. Nothing says “I wanna sex you up” like a date to a Tori Amos concert. Believe me, I know. 😉

She Bops: Cyndi Lauper Tour Stops in Reno « Queer Landia

Cyndi Lauper. The name brings back so many memories. From my high school days as an awkward kid that decided to mimic her hair style (checker board, orange and yellow) to my first concert in California. I have looked up to Cyndi Lauper as an idol for many years. She is a strong person with compassion. She is quirky, fun and serious all at once. She loves her fans and proves it at her concerts.

I met her once, briefly, at a Borders in Indianapolis (thank you, Todd, for the ride there!!!). I even setup my email account nearly 10 years ago as imetcyndilauper. I saw her in concert on Cher’s second or third farewell tour. I missed her with Tina turner back the ’90s because she went into labor between Chicago and Indianapolis. I saw her again on her True Colors tour in Berkeley. Continue reading

New York Edges Closer to Marriage Equality | Queer Landia

Earlier today, 365Gay ran an article about three Democratic Senators switching their votes on marriage equality. Previously, Senators Joseph P. Addabbo Jr., Shirley L. Huntley, and Carl Kruger all voted against marriage equality, but now they say they will vote for passing the legislation.

I was really excited to hear this news, but the Senate was still three votes short for passing the legislation. That was until this afternoon.
