R E S P E C T

If I knew how, I would have Aretha Franklin’s song playing while you were reading this post. I find the song to be a fitting companion to this post.

As you may know, I post a piece a little while ago about the Fearless Campaign. After signing that petition and signing up for more information, I received an email from Lisa Kaufmann. The Fearless Campaign is on a roll. They are working to repeal DOMA completely. Not just section 3, but the entire stupid law. Check out the email that she sent me and decide whether or not you want to join this cause.

I hope that each of you will take the time to read the letter, join the Fearless Campaign and contact your Senators and Representatives. If you have some money to spare, they accept donations as well for their great work, but I understand that these are tough times.

Burlesque: Zander on Cam Gigandet

I watched Burlesque a couple of weeks ago and the movie was so much better than I expected. The story was actually pretty good and the acting was better than I anticipated. Having Cam Gigandet spend so much time shirtless (with a nude scene) added to my enjoyment. You may remember Cam from the Twilight movies. He played James. Let me tell you, though, he looks really fine with the much shorter hair and the box of cookies. He even looked hot with the eye liner.

Maryland Reaches a Stalemate

Posted on March 12, 2011 by Zander

All of the great efforts to get marriage equality in Maryland have come to a stalemate for the year. The Maryland House has shelved the bill due to a lack of support. This is sad news for Marylanders, but it is not the end. As we reach these stalemates (and even losses), we have to remember that we have wins across the country as well.

New Emeryville Target | Queer Oakland

This may or may not be good news, depending on your reaction to the Target debacle last year. Target has opened a new location that is just a few miles outside of Oakland. The new location, which carries groceries, is located in Emeryville on 40th Street. This store is less than 4 miles away from my new Oakland apartment.

Emeryville, CA 94608

Su: 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

The store officially opened up today and I will be heading over there this afternoon to check it out. Are you going to save some money at Target or are you still boycotting them? Let me know in the comments.

Anti-Gay Religious Leaders and Sex Scandals | Queer Landia

I have been really busy lately, so I apologize for the lack of posts. I really like getting the extra exposure on Queer Landia, so for now, I will just be re-posting my items from that blog on here. I hope you enjoy these posts and check out Queer Landia.

I am beginning to think that the great churches in the United States have started working together to create the most outlandish stories and scandals. It seems that every week we get a new story about a religious leader, who is anti-gay, that is caught in a compromising position with young boys or male prostitutes, or just getting it on in a public bathroom.

Now we have a new story breaking out. This religious leader was one of the biggest opponents of the Southern Decadence Festival in New Orleans. The Rev Grant Storms was arrested after numerous witnesses claimed he was touching himself while near a playground, watching children.
